Archie was a production and drilling superintendent for a multi-national oil company until retiring in 1988. A graduate of the University of Wyoming, he spent 35 years in the energy business.

Born in New Jersey, he served 40 months in the U.S. Navy, winding up on Okinawa at wars end. He and Peggy have as their life time accomplishment, eleven grandchildren that light up their lives. Plus a great-grandchild. Archie joined Rotary in February of 1963. He has perfect attendance since 1968. A Scoutmaster for 12 years, a member of the Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Speakers Bureau for 20 years, a member of the United Way of Longview and Tyler for many years, board member of the Volunteer Center of Longview for several years, and a board member of the board of directors of the Marshall Regional Arts Council for many years.

Archie has reflected a life and a career of giving to his community. Archie and Peggy have hosted Youth Exchange pro-grams, GSE members, and Friendship exchange. They and their five children are Paul Harris Fellows, and continue to be major supporters of the Foundation's Endowment for World Understanding and Peace. Archie has been awarded the Meritorious Service Award by the Foundation.
