Bill & Nancy Rains

1935-2015

Bill was born in Red River County, Texas, Graduated from Clarksville High School
then graduated from Texas A & M University with B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1957.
He married Nancy Jones in July of 1956.  They have three sons,  Robert Ellis (Chuck) Rains lives in Texarkana, Arkansas, Richard Alan Rains lives in Houston, Texas,  William David Rains lives in Clarksville, Texas, and one daughter, Mary Beth Rains Greutman who lives in Clarksville, Texas

While living in Clarksville, served on the City Council, Served on Red River County Appraisal District for several years, and President for four years.
Member of Red River County AIA Board, the First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville, Texas - Elder and Clerk of Session, member of Red River County Chamber of Commerce - President 1997 & 1998.

He was a member of Rotary Club of Clarksville, Texas, Assistant Governor for Rotary District 5830 - 1997-98, and governor in 2000-2001.  He served as Registrar and Discussion Leader at Lone Star PETS.

Bill served on the Clarksville Volunteer Fire Department for 26 years, sixteen years as Secretary - Treasurer, five years as Fire Chief

    Served on Board of Directors for Youth Baseball many years (President for three years)
    Coached Little League and Pony League Teams for several years

Service To Profession

Graduated from Texas A & M University in 1957 with a B. S. Degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1957.

Worked for seven years with Caterpillar Tractor Company in Peoria, Illinois, as a Technical Writer and as a Service Engineer.  In 1965, went to work for Campbell Soup Company at the Paris, Texas, plant, as an Industrial Engineering Analyst. Received several promotions during the next few years and in 1972 became the Manager of Industrial Engineering and Planning. Remained in this position for the next twenty years.
