When you want a job done well, on time, and with enthusiasm, you call a busy Rotarian. PDG Charles Whiteside personifies the busy Rotarian. He has been busy since graduating from Texas A&M, serving in Korea and completing his Ph.D. in biochemistry and nutrition. Charlie has been a member of the Rotary Club of Kilgore for 21 years and served at president in 1986-87/ He is a Paul Harris Fellow and has 18 years of perfect attendance. He served District 5830 as Governor in 1995-96. He has served as Senior Scientist at Mead Johnson & Co., Chairman of the Dept. of Chemistry at Kilgore College, member of the American Chemical Society, serving as charter chairman of the East Texas Section, a lifetime member of the Texas Association of Business, receiving "Region of the Year" honors on two occasions, and honored as Business and Professional Man of the Year by Upshur-Gregg Soil and Water Conservation District. The family owned business, Ana-Lab Corp won statewide competition for Business of the Year, 1999, by the Texas Assn of Business. He was appointed by Governor Bush to the Board of Texas Worker's Compensation Insurance fund in 1997.

Charlie served 10 years on the Board of Trustees, Kilgore ISD, including president; president of the Texas Association of School Boards, and chairman of the vocational agriculture advisory committee for 20 years. Charlie is married to the former Jo Ann Youngblood of Athens. Both Charlie and Jo Ann are benefactors and Paul Harris Fellows.  Charlie and Jo Ann became Foundation Major Donors in 2001-2002.

Charlie received the Rotary Foundation "Citation For Meritorius Service" in 2009
