Many 5830 Rotary members heard and read of the of the September 2016 visit by District 4250 Governor Carlos Flores and El Progresso Rotary member Melvin Tejada, along with PDG Tom Watson, Lake Wales Rotary Club President Beverly Lynn and Rotarian Jim Weaver, from District 6890 in Florida. From March 1st through March 3, DG Lee Montgomery and DGE Ted Huffhines returned the favor and visited San Pedro Sula, Honduras, for the 22nd District Conference of Governor Flores’s District 4250.

The purpose of the trip was to continue to build on the friendships established last September and build new relationships with numerous members of the 71 clubs which make up District 4250 in Guatemala, Honduras, and Belize.

The handshakes of Rotary Friendship were exchanged freely and often. The 4250 greetings were warm and appreciative for the visit from 5830. Discussions centered on potential projects and cultural/educational exchanges in which clubs and the district can participate.

In addition to the 200 to 300 members attending the District Conference, Lee and Ted were privileged to also meet RI Director Jorge Aufranc, RI Presidents’ Representative Past District Governor Adriana de la Fuente, and guest speaker from District 6380 (Michigan/Canada) District Governor Michael Angelo Caruso. Many were impressed that 5830 made the effort to visit their conference and express desires to work with them on humanitarian projects.
