Heart 2 Heart- Mexico City trip November 7-14, 2018: Message from IPDG Ted Huffhines.
I had the good fortune to travel to Mexico City with Rotarians from across Zones 30 & 31. There were 10 states represented among the 42 who went on the trip. The purpose of this trip was to see the results of numerous projects being done in the Mexico City area. District 5830 has financially supported several of these projects. Additionally, a number of other project opportunities were also visited and reviewed. I am hopeful that clubs in our District will be interested in hearing about these opportunities and decide to get more involved with the Rotary work in Mexico.

It is an easy trip, and the relationships are already in place with the Rotary Clubs in Mexico City. There is a tremendous opportunity for us to partner with other Districts and Clubs in our Zones and increase our international service.

During our week, we visited six different schools and four hospitals. We saw water and sanitation and literacy projects, as well as, schools with needs for science equipment, musical equipment, and kitchen equipment for a special needs school.

We visited a project that provides breakfast and lunch for over 200 extremely poor students five days a week. This project is now been going on for 30 years!

We saw hospital projects for kidney transplants, cleft lip surgeries, and maternal health. The testimonials from those who benefited from these projects were truly inspirational.

I would appreciate the opportunity to come and share about Heart 2 Heart and all I was able to see with any of our clubs.  For more pictures please go to the District Website photo album.

Sincerely,
