DG Mike Groom December Newsletter
To say we are living in turbulent times would be the understatement of the year, perhaps decade, century? How much of this turbulence is the result of misinformation that is directed towards all of us, seeking to divide us? And what we need now more than ever are institutions upon which we can depend. Our institution of Rotary is now 106-years old and so many of the clubs that I have had the privilege to visit here in District 5830 are now over 75-years old which tells me that our Rotary institutions are VERY DEPENDABLE.  I submit we owe our success to our ability to join together, tune out misinformation, enjoy one another’s company, and address problems in our communities and world, such as disease prevention and treatment.
December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month
Disease prevention and treatment is one of the Rotary Foundation Areas of Focus.  And for good reason.  The health and vitality of a person, a family and a community can be seriously impaired by what in many cases is a preventable disease.  Disease prevention is really a keystone to progress in other areas as well because of the interplay with other areas of focus like Water and Sanitation and Maternal & Child Health.

Wine and cheese!…Rotary and Fun!…Perfect Pairings!!
As we approach the end of year holidays many clubs will have special programs of music, entertainment and other socials. Invite friends, family members and co-workers to enjoy the FUN and fellowship of Rotary. Hey, it’s a “perfect pairing”!!
Congratulations to our 24 clubs that have had POSITIVE GROWTH so far this year!! Your district has grown from 1447 members on July 1st to 1500 members at the end of November. A birdie told me today that Pittsburg add 4 new members today!
