Rotary International's monthly theme for April is Environment.
Rotary members are tackling environmental issues the way they always do: coming up with projects, using their connections to change policy and planning for the future.
Rotary shares an interest in protecting our common legacy: the environment.
We are committed to supporting activities that strengthen the conservation and protection of natural resources, advance ecological sustainability, and foster harmony between communities and the environment.
When our Rotary team visited Guatemala in October of last year, we went to a small village in the far north of the country. The village is Uaxactun’, (pronounced WASH-AC-TUN’). The people there are hard working and industrious. They have been taught sustainable agricultural methods and are employing those techniques to earn livelihoods through exported products that are grown in the jungle/forest around their village.
Enjoy Rotary and have fun! Practicing our 5th prong of the 4-Way Test, March was a wonderful Rotary experience bracketed by Lone Star President Elect Training (PETS) the end of February (23rd-25th) at the DFW Hyatt and the 5830 Local PETS in Mt. Pleasant on March 25th. Between these bookends in March we celebrated International Women’s Day and many clubs revisited the contributions of the first women invited into our fellowship.
Congratulations to the Rotary Clubs of Kilgore, Lindale and Longview which recently completed Club Visioning events! One of the common themes was the need to have better engagement of new members by having more formalized NEW MEMBER ORIENTATIONS to better onboard, educate, engage and strengthen retention.
Annual PRCA Rodeo to be held April 21 and 22 in Longview, Tx.
The Longview PRCA Rodeo (Rodeo) began as a cooperative effort between a local radio station, KYKX 105.7 and Andrews Rodeo Company. In 1997 the radio station was sold to a new investment group and could no longer produce the rodeo. Sammy Andrews approached the Longview (Greggton) Rotary Club of Longview, Texas, Inc. (Greggton Rotary) to take over the production of the Rodeo.
