DG Mike Groom's April 2022 Newsletter
Our Rotary theme for April is maternal and child health. Sadly, saving mothers and children has become disturbingly important due to recent events in Ukraine. Current estimates put the number of Ukrainians who have left their country due to the war at 4 million people, with half of them being children.  The United Nations estimates that 6.5 million people have been displaced within Ukraine and The International Organization for Migration estimates that more than 12 million people in Ukraine are stranded in areas under attack or cannot leave due to security risks. These numbers total more than 22 million people in a country with a population of over 41 million people. Many Ukrainian cities lie in ruins due to bombing. Another very disturbing fact is that there were 200,000 Ukrainian children scheduled to receive the polio vaccine and those vaccinations were halted due to this war.
April 2022 is Maternal and Child Health Month
Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger.
April 2022 Membership Minute Membership is as EASY as 1-2-3!!!
This month we are announcing an exciting ENGAGEMENT initiative!! District 5830 will give $100 to the first 15 clubs that can forward receipts and a short description of a CLUB ENGAGEMENT activity they hold from APRIL 1 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2022!!
Throw in a little MONEY and make it FUN!! Membership in Rotary has 3 components: 1. Attraction (focused activity to attract a new Rotary member) 2. Engagement (impactful, intentional event to engage a new member in the service of Rotary) 3. Retention (engagement activity suited to more experienced, existing Rotarians) Ideas on Attraction are readily available to help you club grow.
