“If you don’t know where you are going, chances are you will end up someplace else.” Yogi Berra, American Baseball Professional
The Visioning Process was originally adopted by District 5830 in 2016-17 and soon became the foundation of many successful District Clubs. While it proved to bring club members together towards building continuity of leadership, consistency in programming, and consensus towards purpose and action, it fell short in providing guidance for the next steps. To fill this gap, the Vision to Success (V2S) process was enhanced in 2020 to include six specific steps and a “Vision to Success Guide” was created to help clubs with the detailed planning.
During and following a facilitated Visioning session, club members will take part in the six steps that set your club up for success:
- Gather the ideas
- Develop a motto or statement of purpose
- Design a Master Plan
- Share the plan with the club
- Create Action Plans for each goal
- Choose an Impact Leader or Impact Team
To help guide the club through the six-step process, a Vision to Success Guide will be provided to remind you of the priorities established during the Club’s Visioning session. Using the Guide, Club Officers and a team will create a Master Plan, strategically putting into the plan the ideas that will be completed in Year One, Year Two, and Year Three. This creates a road map for continuity and to help incoming leaders during their year in leadership.
Utilizing the resulting Master Plan and V2S Guide, team leaders and their teams will create Action Plans for each idea in Year One. In its simplest terms, the Action Plan sets a goal, then proceeds to define, in writing, who will do what by when adding resources funds as needed. This creates movement!!! Years Two and Three of the Master Plan can be handled the same way. The V2S Guide takes the club through each of the six post event steps, including “how to” do the step, things to consider, information about how other clubs may have done this, and other tips. Ideas about keeping the plan alive, both inside the club and in the greater community, are also given.
