Congratulations to Damon Donnell, Past President of the Athens Rotary Club who has been selected by the District 5830 Nominating Committee as District Governor Nominee Designate.  He has been selected to serve during the 2025-2026 Rotary Year.
 
Damon joined the Rotary Club of Athens, Texas, in March 2013 by the nomination of late 173rd District Judge, Hon. Jack Holland. Damon is the immediate past 94th president of the Athens Rotary Club and most recently serves as the District 5830 Disaster Recovery Planning Chairman. 
 
Damon and his wife, Candace, serve as Country Coordinators for Kenya. They have partnered with local churches and orphanages and are subsequently members of the Board of Directors for Hope Spring Water. Hope Springs Water’s mission of bringing sanitation, hygiene, and clean water to a thirsty and waiting world aligns with the Rotary Area of Focus – Water, Sanitation and Hygiene. Damon also serves as Board President of Crescent Heights Water, a cooperative serving rural areas in Henderson County. In addition, having had a childhood interest in wildlife conservation, Damon now proudly serves on the Board of Directors for Friends of the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens.
 
Damon obtained his secular training in mechanical engineering technology from the University of Houston and business management from Southern Methodist University. He applied this training within the global hydrocarbons, infrastructure, environmental, and program management industries. Damon is co-founder and EVP of a Government Solutions firm and also owns a boutique consulting firm specializing in Asset Lifecycle Management for the process industries.
 
Damon and Candace reside in Athens with their three children, River, Sedona, and Vallie-Ruth. They serve the community through Christ in Athens, and alongside a global evangelical leadership called Ministries of Vision International. Damon and his family enjoy cooking and entertaining their loved ones, teaching their children The Way, and life on the farm.
