United for Good: A New Year of Service and Impact
I am truly honored and exhilarated to step into the role of District Governor for this new Rotary year. As I begin this journey, my heart is filled with deep appreciation for the path paved by Immediate Past District Governor Jeff Johnston and the many servant leaders who have shaped our vibrant district. With humility and hope, I look forward to all we will accomplish together in 2025–2026.
Our Rotary International theme, “Unite for Good,” is a powerful call to action. It reminds us that when we come together—across clubs, generations, and borders—we can accomplish extraordinary things. This is more than a motto; it's a mindset for how we build fellowship, serve with purpose, and extend Rotary’s influence in our communities and the world.

Over the coming months, I look forward to visiting each of our 43 clubs throughout District 5830. These visits are more than ceremonial—they are an opportunity for me to learn from you, celebrate your successes, and understand the challenges you face. Rotary is about people, and I can’t wait to meet and serve alongside each of you.

Our Aspirations for the Year

In alignment with Rotary International’s vision and our district’s legacy, I’ve identified several key priorities for this Rotary year:
1. Grow Stronger Together

We will continue to prioritize membership engagement and growth, seeking to add at least 100 new Rotarians and charter two new clubs this year. Through mentorship, fellowship, and meaningful service, we’ll strengthen the Rotary experience at every level.
2. Serve with Purpose

This year, we’re launching two new solidified district committees:
  • Disaster Recovery, chaired by Ben Patterson of the Rotary Club of Henderson, to equip clubs to respond quickly and effectively to natural disasters in our region and beyond.
  • International Peacebuilding, chaired by Tammy Haas of The Rotary Club of South Tyler, to amplify Rotary’s commitment to global understanding, diplomacy, and healing.
These committees reflect our mission to be relevant, responsive, and impactful. Alongside our 41 active district committees, we’ll empower every club to find its lane and flourish in service.

3. Elevate Giving and Global Impact

We aim to raise $500,000 for The Rotary Foundation, with a focus on PolioPlus, WASH initiatives, maternal and child health, and peacebuilding. We will continue our international partnerships in Kenya, Guatemala, and Mexico, building on successful global grants and Rotary friendships abroad.
4. Celebrate Club Excellence

With the leadership of Shirley Pinnix-Evans, we will support every club in achieving at least 13 of RI’s 26 goals, aiming for 30+ clubs to receive the Club Excellence Award this year.

Let’s Unite for Good

Rotarians are people of action. Whether it’s sponsoring local youth, building wells across the globe, or responding to a tornado in our own backyard, your dedication inspires me. With unity as our compass, I believe this year will be one of bold leadership, compassionate service, and renewed purpose across District 5830.

Please mark your calendar for a special moment of celebration—our District Gathering on September 13, 2025, in Idabel, OK, hosted by the Rotary Club of Idabel. Together, we will reflect on our shared success and recognize the individuals who exemplify Rotary’s highest values.

Let us move forward—united for good, rooted in Rotary’s purpose, and ready to grow, serve, and lead. I am truly excited to serve as your District Governor and to witness the impact we will create—together.

With Rotary Spirit,
Damon G. Donnell
