In November, I visited Big Sandy, Mount Pleasant, Pittsburg, Paris United, Texarkana International, Texarkana Oaklawn, Texarkana Sunrise, and Texarkana Wilbur Smith Rotary Clubs. The comradery, energy, openness and Rotarian Spirit of our District 5830 Rotary Clubs continues to amaze me - - - as I’ve said each month, we are so blessed by the Rotarians in District 5830!
All the clubs have worked hard to elect club officers, establish 2024-2025 goals, plan fund raising projects, and welcome me with wide open arms! Many thanks to all the visited clubs - - - - with 33 visits completed, I have only 8 more visits planned for December, which will complete the “initial round” of DG visits for 2024-2025.
I continue to end each club visit with a personal challenge:
- Expand Rotary locally and internationally
- Increase your Service to Others
- Leave a Lasting Legacy
Start where you are!
Use what you have!
Do what you can!
During November, District 5830 clubs strongly supported Our Vision of expanding Rotary Club Membership. A number of our clubs have added 4 or more new members this year - - - we are striving to achieve a net gain of 100 NEW District 5830 Rotarians during 2024-2025. During my club visits, we have started to “plant the seed” to establish 3 or 4 NEW “focused” Rotary Clubs that will start as “satellite clubs” until we gain membership of 20 or more members. The “target areas” are Tyler, Longview, and Texarkana for the NEW “focused” clubs - - - discussion meetings are underway with guidance and strong support from Rotary International. More information will be provided as we develop ideas, secure support, establish parameters, gain approval, and kick off the first “focused” club hopefully in early 2025.
As noted in October, PDG Ted Huffhines continues to lead the 2025 Rotary District 5830 Legacy Dinner planning committee. During November, a designated group of District 5830 Leaders met to further develop plans and activities for April 26, 2025 event which will be held in Tyler, TX. Our awesome Assistant Governors have started meeting with their assigned clubs to share more of the Legacy Dinner Vision and Plans - - - More information will be shared in the coming months.
As a follow-up to November being Rotary Foundation Month, a District 5830 Planning Committee has secured Holly Tree Country Club in Tyler for the February 1, 2025 event has been reserved for our 2024-2025 Rotary Foundation Dinner. Our Foundation Dinner planning committee, which includes District 5830 Rotarians Terri Deike, Brandie Henderson, Pamela Walters, and Trudy Williams, is working with our District Administrator, Shirley Pinnix-Evans to make the 2024-2025 event a big success. Our Assistant Governors are working with their assigned District 5830 Rotary Clubs to secure “silent auction” items for the dinner. District 5830 Past District Governors will be reaching out to individual, group, and company sponsors.
Please remember - - - it is never too early to make plans and REGISTER for the 2025 Rotary International Convention which will be in Calgary, Canada June 21-25, 2025. We are still ONE Registration AWAY from achieving our “early registration goal” - - - please remember to sign up before year’s end to receive a registration discount. If you’ve never been to a Rotary International Convention, the 2025 Canada event would be a great time to expand your horizon and see how Rotarians from around the world SERVE SERVE SERVE!
Thanks for allowing me to SERVE as your DG for 2024-2025
