Has Fall Weather Finally Started?

Apparently ALL the months are busy - - - October was another busy, busy month for everyone - - - more sport activities, marching bands & amp; parades, and TONS of school stuff for all - - - - as well as WORK and HOME activities. In October, I visited Wills Point, Jefferson, Marshall, Gladewater, Kilgore and Canton Rotary Clubs. The comradery, energy, openness and Rotarian Spirit of our District 5830 Rotary Clubs continues to amaze me - - - we are so so blessed by the Rotarians in District 5830! All the clubs have worked hard to elect club officers, establish 2024-2025 goals, plan fund raising projects, and welcome me with wide open arms! Many thanks to all the visited clubs - - - - with 27 visits completed, I have only 14 more visits planned for the “initial round” of DG visits for 2024-2025.
I continue to end each club visit with a personal challenge:
1. Expand Rotary locally and internationally
2. Increase your Service to Others
3. Leave a Lasting Legacy

Start where you are!
Use what you have!
Do what you can!

During October, District 5830 clubs strongly supported Rotary International’s Polio+ Campaign - - - special events, dedicated fund raising, focused programs, and
increased Polio+ giving was achieved. Many thanks to all for the extra efforts and the strong commitment to defeat polio as we continue to support Rotary International’s “Together, WE End Polio”.

Happy Halloween! Take a minute to think about all the CANDY, FUN, and CHEER provided to the kiddos in our District. The smiles, laughs, creativity in costumes, and pure energy are overwhelming some time, but the celebration continues to be high point for so many. Sadly, so many kiddos (and adults) around the world aren’t able to have the “extra” funds or time to celebrate Halloween or any other event - - - many, many prayers for others !

October 2024

PDG Ted Huffhines continues to lead the 2025 Rotary District 5830 Legacy Dinner  planning committee. During October, a designated group of District 5830 Leaders met with Rotary International’s Patrick Longana to further develop plans and activities for April 26, 2025 event which will be held in Tyler, TX. Our awesome Assistant Governors have started meeting with their assigned clubs to share more of the Legacy Dinner Vision and Plans - - - More information will be shared in the coming months. Rotary International has designated November as Rotary Foundation Month. February 1, 2025 has been reserved for our 2024-2025 Rotary Foundation Dinner. The Event will be held at the Holly Tree Country Club in Tyler, TX. Committee decided we needed to PUSH the planned Foundation Dinner to early 2025 but will continue with plans for the event to be held in Tyler, TX. Our Foundation Dinner planning committee, which includes District 5830 Rotarians Terri Deike, Brandie Henderson, Pamela Walters, and Trudy Williams, is working with our District Administrator, Shirley Pinnix-Evans to make the 2024-2025 event a big success. Our Assistant Governors are working with their assigned District 5830 Rotary Clubs to secure “silent auction” items for the dinner. District 5830 Past District Governors will be reaching out to individual, group, and company sponsors. Please watch your mail sources for a “save the date” and associated Foundation Dinner plans.

Please remember - - - it is never too early to make plans and REGISTER for the 2025 Rotary International Convention which will be in Calgary, Canada June 21-25, 2025. We are ONE AWAY from achieving our “early registration goal” - - - please remember to sign up before year’s end to receive a registration discount. If you’ve never been to a Rotary International Convention, the 2025 Canada event would be a great time to expand your horizon and see how Rotarians from around the world SERVE SERVE SERVE!

Thanks for allowing me to SERVE as your DG for 2024-2025
