Time has FLOWN BY. During the past year, I have logged almost 31,000 miles performing District 5830 and Rotary International activities, training and visits. As your 2024-2025 District Governor, I have been blessed to visit every District 5830 Rotary club at least once and have also tried to make a number of the special events throughout the District - - - just because, my term is officially expiring, I am NOT DONE visiting and working with our many clubs!
Rotary year 2024-2025 has been a great year and we have collectively and individually achieved a lot:
- Rotary International’s 2025 Convention in Calgary, Canada was held the last week of June with almost 20,000 Rotarians celebrating the “Magic of Rotary”. Our District had 23 Rotarians attending the 4+ days of meetings and workshops. Plans are underway for the 2026 Convention in Taipei, Taiwan, from June 13 – 17.
- ALL District 5830 Rotary Clubs were visited and evaluated during the Rotary calendar year - - - 100% of the District 5830 Rotary Clubs are meeting or exceeding expectations and many are blowing it out of the roof on membership growth, RI Foundation support, community involvement, investing in lives, and much more!
- Tom DeWitt, PDG and District Awards and Fundraising Chair, reports that we are closing out a great year in District 5830 with over $1,100,000 raised through our Legacy Campaign and over $405,000 in contributions to The Rotary Foundation.
- Rotary International President, Stephanie A. Urchick, challenged ALL Rotary Zones to grow by FOUR CLUBS and have a net gain of 100 Rotarians during her calendar year of 2024-2025 - - - District 5830 met RI President Urchick’s challenge by adding over 120 new Rotarians, two new Rotary clubs finalized, and several more clubs in the pipeline.
- District 5830 Administrator, Shirley Pinnix-Evans, has worked with all the district clubs to push through achieving AT LEAST 13 of the 26 Rotary International Annual Goals to receive the Club Excellence Award. At this point in time, we could have 29 of the District 5830 clubs receiving the Club Excellence Award.
- September 13, 2025 in Idabel, OK will be a special DISTRICT EVENT - - - we will celebrate District 5830 accomplishments and recognize some individual SUPER Servant Leaders - - - Please make plans to attend the September 13 event, which will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Idabel - - move details coming out soon!
- Polio Headlines as of June 24, 2025
Rotarians make a difference - - - in our local communities, at work, across the nation, and around the world! Several years ago, Rotary International adopted a motto of “service above self”, which has become a way of life for Rotarians around the world. In our daily lives, we Rotarians face many opportunities to exhibit the “service above self” in decision making, work practices, community functions, and even our family activities.
As I finish out my term as your District Governor, I extend my year-long PERSONAL CHALLENGE to each club:
Start where you are!
Use what you have!
Do what you can!
Also I wanted to share the report on Polio
Many prayers for 2025-2026 District Governor Damon Donnell as he takes the baton and leads us all to the next level of service and beyond.
Thanks for allowing me to SERVE as your DG for 2024-2025. I am very, very honored and so humbled!
