Carlos Flores, DG for D4250, which consists of the three countries of Honduras, Guatemala, and Belize, met with District 5830 officials and
club members from August 28th through September 2nd for a whirl wind of activities.  Also in the visiting delegation were past DG Tom Wagner for D6890; Lake Wales Rotary Club President Beverly Lynne; Lake Wales Rotary Club International Service Chair Jim Weaver; El Progresso, Honduras Rotary Club member Melvin Tejada.
D5830 International Service Chair Dan Carpenter began the meeting by saying that many don’t see the vision of international service.  “We are trying to forge communication between three international districts and District 5830 for relationships, not just money.  We hope to have a continuing activity with these three districts.”
District Governor Carlos Flores remarked on needs in his three districts and felt they could be prioritized for immediate and long term action by clubs, rather than Rotary International.  RI grants take too long.  There are large clubs with large funds that do not utilize those funds.  The three countries need equipment for schools,  hospitals, etc. and a direct contribution is quicker and easier for everyone.
D5830 DG Lee Montgomery proposed a Strategic Plan with several areas, which will be used for further planning of international service projects.
