When I began preparing my Official Visit presentation, I discovered something interesting. There isn't an operations manual that tells District Governors exactly what to cover during club visits. As I organized my thoughts, I realized one word kept appearing over and over again: connection. Whether it was connect, connecting, or connection, it found its way onto slide after slide.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that connection is at the heart of Rotary.
Congratulations to Roy Shockey who was selected by the District 5830 Nominating Committee as District Governor Nominee Designate. He will serve as D-5830 District Governor during the 2029-2030 Rotary Year.

August is Rotary’s Membership and New Club Development Month, and it gives us a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what truly makes Rotary extraordinary.The purpose of the Rotary Global Scholarship program is to further international understanding and peaceful relations among people of different races, nationalities, ethnicities, and religions while pursuing an approved program of graduate study at an institution of higher education in a foreign country. While abroad, scholars serve as ambassadors of goodwill to the people of the host country and give presentations about their homeland to Rotary clubs and other groups. Upon returning home, scholars share with Rotarians and others the experiences that led to a greater understanding of their host countries.
