Youth & Young Adult Programs
Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. Sponsored by local Rotary clubs, Interact clubs give students the opportunity to lead, serve, and build friendships locally and around the world.
Interact clubs are self-governing and self-supporting, with Rotary clubs providing guidance, mentorship, and support. Clubs may be school-based or community-based, large or small, and open to students from one school or multiple schools in the area.
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two service projects—one that serves the local community and one that promotes international understanding and goodwill.
Through Interact, students learn the importance of:
• Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
• Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
• Understanding individual responsibility and hard work
• Advancing international understanding and goodwill
Interact is one of Rotary’s most meaningful youth programs, helping young people discover the power of Service Above Self while preparing them to become tomorrow’s leaders.
Rebecca Smith (Cedar Creek Lake Rotary Club) is the current District 5830 Interact Committee Chair.

ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is Rotary's leadership training program for young adults. In District 5830, we invite high school Juniors to attend as campers at Clements Scout Ranch in Athens, TX. The weekend camp is planned and run by a dedicated group of Rotarians and RYLA alumni facilitators. RYLA's goal is to connect young adults with leaders in the community and around the world to:
- Build communication and problem-solving skills
- Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in your school or community
- Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors
- Unlock their potential to turn motivation into action
- Have fun and form lasting friendships
ROTARY YOUTH EXCHANGE
Please explore the following web sites:
As a Rotary Youth Exchange student, you'll spend up to a year living with a few host families and attending school in a different country.
Whether you participate in Rotary's long-term or short-term Youth Exchange programs, you'll learn a new way of living, a great deal about yourself, and maybe even a new language. You'll also be an ambassador, teaching people you meet about your country, culture, and ideas. You can help bring the world closer - and make some good friends in the process.
More than 8,000 young people each year have experiences like these through Rotary Youth Exchange. It's the opportunity of a lifetime. Are you ready for it?
Find out what countries participate by contacting Rotarians or the Youth Exchange chair in your area.
