Anson Godfrey
2013-14
Anson is a lifelong resident of Texarkana, Texas.  While his professional life has allowed him to travel to most areas of the USA as well as extensive travel in England, he always came home to the Northeast Texas he truly loves.  Those pine trees bring him home every time.
After joining Rotary, he served as treasurer, secretary and president of the Texarkana International Rotary Club.   Until his election to District Governor, he was a board member and former vice-president of the Alzheimer’s Alliance-Tri State in Texarkana.
Anson has a BA in History/Counseling and Guidance with a teaching certification and a M.ED. in Secondary and Higher Education with a minor in Educational Technology from East Texas State University at Texarkana (now Texas A&M University-Texarkana).  He has done doctoral work in Adult/Continuing Education with a minor in Higher Education Administration at the University of North Texas in Denton, TX.
He was first employed by East Texas State University-Texarkana in 1974 in the role of Media Specialist.  This was at a time when the university consisted of rented classrooms at Texarkana College and had a handful of faculty and staff.  He retired from Texas A&M University-Texarkana 35 years later in 2009 as the Director of Technology/Distance Education and Assistant Professor of Instructional Technology.  He participated in the growth of the university almost from its inception to it becoming a regional presence with a brand new campus in construction.   He continues to teach online courses for the university in the Instructional Technology Program.
>Anson enjoys reading, fishing, shooting, music of all kinds and helping others.  He loves his God, his family, Texas, and the USA and has found in Rotary a vehicle for making a positive difference in lives all over the world.
