Two Months In… and Already So Much Impact!
Where did the time go? Somehow, we are already two months into our Rotary year!
 
One of the greatest joys of serving as your District Governor has been visiting your clubs. I have been inspired by the creativity, enthusiasm, and commitment I have seen throughout District 5830. I have seen clubs doing big things and small things that make a very real difference. And, perhaps most importantly, I have seen the power of Rotarians connecting with one another, with their communities, and with opportunities to make a difference.

Congratulations to Roy Shockey
Congratulations to Roy Shockey who was selected by the District 5830 Nominating Committee as District Governor Nominee Designate. He will serve as D-5830 District Governor during the 2029-2030 Rotary Year.
 
DGND Roy is the current President of Mineola Rotary Club. Roy has served as Mineola Club President for 4 years. 
 
Pursuant to the District’s Bylaws, specifically Article II – District 5830 Committees, the nomination of Roy Shockey will be held until September 9, 2026, to permit any challenges or re-nominations and will thereafter become final at midnight on September 9, 2026.

Building a Stronger Disaster Network Across District 5830
 
September is National Preparedness Month, and what better time for District 5830 to look at how we can be better prepared before the next disaster comes our way?
 
When disaster strikes, Rotary has always been about neighbors helping neighbors. We know our communities, we know the people in them, and we are often well positioned to connect needs with resources, whether it be sharing or collecting information. But District 5830 covers a lot of ground. Our district is simply too large to manage disaster recovery through one person or one central point of contact.
